President Donald Trump says a $2,000 tariff dividend check could come in the middle of 2026.

Trump made the remarks to reporters on Nov. 17, while in the Oval Office, saying “individuals of moderate income” could expect dividends “probably in the middle of next year,” reported USA TODAY.

“We’re going to be issuing dividends later on, some somewhere prior to, probably in the middle of next year, a little bit later than that. Thousands of dollars for individuals of moderate income, middle income,” Trump said Monday, Nov. 17, as reported by Axios.

Trump’s update on Monday comes after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Nov. 12 that the Trump administration was “exploring all legal options” to issue $2,000 checks to Americans.

“I don’t have a timeline for you or any further details, but I can confirm for you that the president made it clear he wants to make it happen, and so his team of Economic Advisors is looking into it, and when we have an update, we’ll provide one,” Leavitt told reporters on Nov. 12.

Trump initially posted about the dividend checks on his Truth Social account on Nov. 9, claiming that a dividend check of at least $2,000 would be paid out to “everyone,” but would exclude “high income people.”
